Catherine named the child Poppy after the sea of poppies growing in their garden at the time of the child's birth. Despite Harvey's trade, the family were quite poor as Gunk's economy was nothing to boast about. Poppy spent her childhood with home-made clothes and toys. Not that she minded; she loved having outfits different to the other children, and her first teddy-bear is still with her today (though his eyes has been replaced so many times over the years that he now has heterochromia). Despite her mother's scolding that fighting was unladylike, Harvey taught his daughter how to fight with the various weapons he made up in his shop. As sleepy as it was, Gunk wasn't exactly the safest of places, plus Harvey wanted his little girl to be prepared in case she ever went adventuring like she kept saying she would as soon as she grew older. Poppy had an insatiable wanderlust and adventurous streak within her all her childhood years; she loved Gunk because her parents were here, but she desperately wanted to leave and go to explore Albion. Her biggest dream was to become an adventuress and explore every part of Albion.
