To be entirely honest and fair, Sherlock hadn't expected any of what had happened, but that was exactly why it was so brilliant at the same as it was unexpected. He'd seen a lot of things, but unexpectedly being pulled into a different land hadn't been something he'd even considered. Even more unconsidered by him was the idea that he could've fallen in love, yes, love, with someone he met in that world. But he had. And the ball had just seemed like the perfect place to admit it.

The way he'd met Scarlet was about as interesting as it could be. He'd stumbled upon her fighting what he'd learned were called Hollow Men, skeletal beings who, despite their comparably low intelligence, knew how to wield and use weapons, and, true to his nature, hadn't been the least bit hesitant to join her in order to defeat the night's group. She quickly proved to be skilled at fighting and quite the interesting company. The thought of that first meeting easily brought a smile to his lips.

The kingdom itself was looking quite grand in its snow-coated glory as he waited for Scarlet to arrive. Snowflakes were dancing gracefully to the ground, and not too far off, Sherlock could hear the joyful banter and chatter of couples making their way to the ballroom. He could likely head inside himself, but he'd promised Scarlet he'd wait for her outside. Considering the crowd inside the ballroom, it would be much easier for them to find each other outside the castle and then head in together instead of trying to find each other among the large masses of people inside where they could easily circle the room several times over searching for each other and not even know that the other was already there. That was an unnecessary hassle in his mind. It'd be easier on both of them to meet up here. Carefully pulling his small pocket watch from his pocket by the chain, he took a glance at the time. Truthfully, they had all night, but felt like he'd probably been putting off admitting his feelings to Scarlet long enough. The only thing he'd been waiting for recently was the proper moment.
